A History

One quick thing before work:

lisamaria stole an idea from gernboken who has been doing this thing where, every day, he reviews what he wrote in the past on that date, to see how he's changed as a person. (Yes, Lisa. I copy/pasted that sentence from your journal.)

So I think I'd like to do that to. Here goes:

2007 - No entry on this date, but my next one talks about how excited/scared I was to be starting school full time again.

2006 - Again, no entry on this date, but the next one is the post where I announced my mother's death. The two year anniversary of the date is coming up next week and on that day, I'm going to get a new tattoo to honor her memory.

2005 - This was very soon after I broke up with Cody for a little and I was posting appropriate song lyrics.

2004 - Apparently Moby played Radiohead's 'Creep' on Conan and I hated it. I forgot all about this.

2003 - I asked if anyone wanted to play Contra: Shattered Soldier on PS2. Man, that game still owns.

2002 - No entry, but then posted some grades that I had just gotten during a semester at Rowan. I got a 3.12. Not bad, young Chris.

2001 - My first LJ post was in March of 2001. I've had this shit for a long time!

So, in retrospect, I guess things have always sort of been up and down for me. At least I'm consistent in my inconsistencies.

Ooh, this sounds like a fun game. I'll play too!

2007 - "Asleepawake" I wrote about waking up from one of my longest periods of depression. I've battled depression since I was a child, since before we even really knew that it could hit people that young. It's a family thing. This was probably the beginning of my trip toward treatment, which has worked out exceedingly well for me.

2006 - "Bad at Life - Good at Life" I wrote about going back to school after hitting the halfway mark. I was still seriously depressed at that point, and not following through on things very well. (Unless it was going to the Ritz to see movies, then I was DAMN good at that.) I wrote about going back to work and wondering if I had ever told them that I was taking a vacation for a month. In any event, they didn't notice or care that I had gone missing, so I wasn't too worried about it.

2005 - "The Adventures of Ethos, Logos, Pathos and Fred" I wrote about my adventures with my friends Clinton, Gabbie and Colleen. We were hanging out and enjoying ourselves and doing things like playing hide-and-seek in Old Navy. It was a rainy day in Galveston, so we had nothing fun to do and instead made our own fun by taking pictures and going shopping.

I only started the journal the November before that, so there wasn't anything for January 2004, but I recall it vividly. I was living in New Hampshire. I hadn't graduated from college yet. And I was working for Howard Dean - making no money, and working seven days a week, sixteen hours a day. It was one of the hardest things that I've done in my life, and it tested me socially, mentally and physically. I was in charge of 27 interns who each had a job to do. At this point, we were still gearing up for the primary and Dean was still in the lead. But I had noticed that the internal polling numbers were NOT what was being reported in the press. We were in trouble. And I knew it before the rest of the country did, because I had access to the internal database.

I'll be getting it done in Boston, because that's where I'll happen to be at the time. You're more than welcome to come though. :)
